*Blue Flame Scarf* Brioche Knitting Patterns


Blue Flame Scarf is a brioche knitting pattern worked in brioche rib stitch. The brioche knit stitches are contouring the silhouette of a candlelight with a flickering flame.

Blue Flame Scarf - Brioche Knitting

Directions:

With main color yarn cast-on: 
(14 stitches x 2 pattern repeats) + 5 stitches = 33 stitches 
If you want to knit a wrap or a blanket, just increase the number of repeats in the formula above.
Work row 1 with main color yarn. After that slide all stitches to the other end of the needles, join contrast color yarn and work row 2 with contrast color yarn.

Row 1 MC: k1, *sl1yo, k1; rep from *, sl1yo, sl1 wyif.

After each odd row slide stitches to other end of needles, pick-up contrast color yarn and knit the even row.
After each even row turn work, pick-up main color yarn and knit the odd row.

Row 2 CC: sl1 wyif, *brp1, sl1yo; rep from* to last 2 sts, brp1, sl1 wyif.
Note: knit the “brkyobrk” sts from previous row as: sl1yo, p1, sl1yo
          and the “br4st inc” sts from previous row as: sl1yo, p1, sl1yo, p1, sl1yo

Row 3 MC: k1, * sl1yo, brp1; rep from* to last 2 sts, sl1yo, sl1 wyif.

Row 4 CC: sl1 wyib, *brk1, sl1yo; rep from* to last 2 sts, brk1, sl1 wyib.

Work rows 1-52 according to directions, after that repeat only rows 5-52 until reached the desired length of the scarf. 

Bind off and weave in loose ends.


Compact Chart:

In the compact chart are indicated mostly the rows with increases and decreases. Between them are the rows similar to rows 2, 3, and 4 (with the exception of the fact that you have to work the “brkyobrk” stitches from the previous row as: sl1yo, p1, sl1yo and the “br4st inc” stitches from previous row as: sl1yo, p1, sl1yo, p1, sl1yo).

  1. There is an error in row 29 in the written instructions. your are missing a brkyobrk, which you show in the chart, but is not in the written instructions.

I think there might be another difference between the chart and the written pattern on row 29 (not the same as the one pointed out by 'dengel' above) - the chart shows: "k1, [sl1yo, brk1] 2 times, sl1yo, brLsl dec, [sl1yo, brk1] 2 times, brkyobrk", but the written pattern says to: "k1, *[sl1yo, brk1] 2 times, sl1yo, brLsl dec, [sl1yo, brk1] 3 times, brkyobrk".
